Domain parking is probably the easiest way to monetize a domain name.  When you park a domain you allow a parking company to create a mini-website full of ads on the domain.  You get paid when people click on the ads. 

Domain parking pages are not universally loved by web surfers.  For this reason parking companies are becoming creative in how they develop these pages.  Some parking companies offer pages that allow you to add content, with the hope that these pages eventually rank in search engines.  Most search engines work hard to keep these pages from ranking, as they are seen as not providing much user value.

Other companies focus on plainer-looking pages that encourage people to click-away quickly.  These pages are not really intended to rank in search engines – they are intended to quickly monetize type-in traffic.
