A new look for an old friend

Name Monetizer, Domain Parking News, and Parkquick.com chronicled the domain monetization industry from the late 1990s through 2015.  During this time domain parking could be quite lucrative.  Since then Google has pushed the industry toward real meaningful content by punishing domains that are full of ads.  This benefits the Internet and most users.  It has left domain owners with fewer ways to monetize content.

If you have a domain that gets good targeted traffic, then Sedo still works well to monetize that traffic in many cases. Uniregistry’s marketing platform (formerly Domain Name Sales) also does a good job. There are other companies around, but they don’t do quite as well for me, and in some cases I’ve actually seen them attempt to put malware on my system.

Domain owners still meet at conferences such as NamesCon to compare notes and learn about the latest in the industry. Don’t look for much new content here, but enjoy a stroll down memory lane as we chronicle the demise of domain parking.
